ABOUT ME

My childhood was filled with creative vision and I spent much of my time dabbling in the arts.  A move to the west in my teens became an instrumental turning point in my life and this is where I finally set down roots.

In recent years, my renewed creativity was sparked by abuse.  During the long healing process, I turned to writing, poetry and art for release from the residual emotions of my past.  I have adamantly resolved to prosper and setting goals helped immensely.  The crucial first step was believing in myself once again.

My paintings, poetry and novel have become an extension of my soul.  Publishing The Beaten Path was a huge catharsis and learning experience.  My hope is to shed light on the darkness surrounding abuse.  My art initially began with figurative pastel drawings. It was a unique way to purge feelings in the female face. After all, looks can often say more than words. My attention has since turned and now I paint to replicate residual emotions, thoughts and expressions in an abstract, dimensional way. I am never fully aware what will come out, my paintbrush is the guide and takes on a life of its own. I use a variety of mediums and techniques to accomplish my desired effect of vibrancy, texture and depth. Each painting is done in detail and meant to be viewed close or far away. My intention is to evoke feeling in the observer as they hopefully relate in some way.
